Space Tango Announces Strategic Collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital to Pioneer Advanced Medical Research in Microgravity

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 22, 2025) – Space Tango, a leader in automated research and manufacturing in microgravity, is proud to announce a new collaborative agreement with the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Efforts will focus on exploring novel treatments and therapies for various diseases, with a particular emphasis on cancer research made possible through the microgravity environment.

This research collaboration will use the Space Tango suite of automated solutions on the ISS, future commercial space stations, and cargo capsules with re-entry capability. The unique capabilities of these space-based lab environments allow researchers to conduct complex studies with high precision and reliability, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space-based research.

“We are thrilled to join forces with the Massachusetts General Hospital, an institution renowned for its commitment to excellence in medical research and patient care,” said Twyman Clements, Co-Founder and President of Space Tango. “This agreement to work with MGH towards our shared scientific objectives represents a significant step forward in our mission to harness the potential of microgravity for medical advancements that can transform lives on Earth and in space.”

“Working with Space Tango opens up new avenues for our research teams,” said Dr. Aleksandra Stankovic, Founding Director of the MGH Center for Space Medicine Research (CSMR). “The microgravity environment offers a distinct advantage in understanding disease mechanisms and developing novel therapies. We are eager to see the advancement that space-based innovations can offer towards improving health outcomes for patients worldwide, and we are very excited to be working with Space Tango towards this goal.”

This cooperative agreement underscores the growing importance of space as a frontier for medical research and innovation. Both Space Tango and MGH are committed to sharing findings with the global scientific community, fostering collaboration, and accelerating the translation of research into tangible health benefits.

Space Tango and MGH will commemorate their research agreement through a series of public events and presentation they will be jointly supporting during Massachusetts Space Week April 22-27.
