Co-founder and CEO, Twyman Clements, represents the organization, joining leaders from Tesla, Amazon, Netflix, Instagram, Twitter, Google, and Lyft

LEXINGTON, KY. (May 30, 2018) /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Fast Company today announced its annual list of the Most Creative People in Business for 2018, honoring an influential and diverse group of 100 leaders from a vast range of global industries including tech, design, entertainment, healthcare, media, government, nonprofit, finance, food, and more, who are having a measurable impact on the world.

Twyman Clements, Co-founder and CEO, Space Tango, earned the recognition this year from Fast Company for driving the creation of a new industry for research, bioengineering, and manufacturing in low Earth Orbit. In the last year and a half, Space Tango has installed two fully automated, TangoLab facilities on the International Space Station that provide near real-time data downlink to user’s and are remote-controlled from Earth. The opportunity to control microgravity research from the ground provided by Space Tango is changing the paradigm of R&D and manufacturing in space for pharmaceutical and technology companies across the globe. To date, Space Tango has successfully completed multiple research missions in support of future commercial manufacturing applications on orbit and is re-defining the ‘global’ marketplace.

“Public-private partnerships are critical if we are going to be successful in establishing a robust commercially-driven economy in space,” said Michael E. Read, Manager, Commercial Space Utilization Office, International Space Station Program, NASA/Johnson Space Center. “In addition to their established facilities on station, Space Tango has demonstrated that their TangoLab facilities also can be temporarily relocated to docked vehicles during re-supply missions, extending on-orbit capabilities. This kind of creativity is mandatory as we view the future of in-space activities, and we congratulate Space Tango on the recognition of their success in helping us to achieve our mission.”

“Advancing the research capabilities that are present on the International Space Station is critical to the future of advancing space-based R&D as well as enabling a commercial economy in low Earth orbit,” commented CASIS Director of Operations, Ken Shields. “Twyman Clements and companies like Space Tango are leading the way in developing creative and innovative commercial approaches to implementing cutting-edge projects aboard the International Space Station.”

Fast Company editors and writers spend a year researching candidates for the list, scouting every sector of business: technology, fashion, cybersecurity, biotech, entertainment, beauty, social good, food, data, consumer goods, and more. The people selected have all accomplished something truly innovative within the past 12 months that is having a meaningful effect within their industries. They’re also discoveries; none has ever been profiled in Fast Company before. Taken together, they represent where business is heading right now.
